Billiards tournament among PASO lawyers

On February 27, 2021, PASO's billiard tradition of hosting a tournament entered its second decade.

The 11th annual Russian billiards tournament among lawyers of the Samara region took place. This time the classic free pyramid gathered the most staunch lawyers, ready to fight with cues in their hands. Of the 26 who entered the tournament, 21 participants took part.

It has become a rule to hold the competition on one of the days close to the Defender of the Fatherland Day. Lawyers could not only enjoy the game and the competition, but also celebrate February 23rd. Traditionally, a PASO representative came to congratulate the men on the holiday and wish them luck in the tournament. This year, the chairman of the PASO qualification commission A.V. Kokin addressed his colleagues with a welcoming speech. Special gratitude in his speech was noted for the invaluable contribution to the organization of the tournament of the lawyer Nikolai Stepanov and his desire to preserve and improve the already established tradition.

A.V. Kokin himself was awarded the Cup from the veterans of the tournament in honor of the contribution made to the annual assistance in organizing a sports event for lawyers and the recent 50th anniversary.

The tournament was held at a high professional level with the qualified refereeing of the master of sports of international class, European champion Artyom Zotov.

All fans of Russian billiards noted that this year the competitions were more dynamic, the number of tables in the new venue - the Spartak billiard club - was sufficient even for the initial stage of the tournament.

The good-natured atmosphere, smiles on the most concentrated faces of the players, jokes and communication between games testified to the strong and friendly spirit of the tournament!

We also talked about professional topics, which real professionals of the legal profession cannot do without even on a day off.
As a standard, prizes were awarded not only for participation in the main tournament, but also in individual shootout and billiard competitions. There were some surprises when evaluating the results of the competition. Young players climb higher and higher in the tournament bracket every year, the quarters and semi-finals stages have acquired an updated roster.

There are new faces among the winners of the satellite tournaments. For the first time such a high result was shown by Daniil Khoroshilov and Mushfik Damirov. The first place in the Billiards was also submitted to Alexander Sizonenko for the first time. A small sensation awaited the participants in the final stage of the tournament. Despite the broken (plastered) right hand, Andrei Fadeev, who first reached the semifinals of the tournament, demonstrated his fortitude and strength of character. Contrary to the expectations of the players, Alexander Hayrapetyan and Dmitry Martynov met at the final table. This year, Dmitry found it difficult to cope with the excitement and emotions under the watchful eye of the tournament participants, but he demonstrated the fighting spirit of a real professional!

And the winner again deservedly became Alexander Hayrapetyan, and Dmitry Martynov took second place. The bronze medalists in 2021 were Igor Strukov and Andrey Fadeev, for whom this stage of the billiard pedestal was conquered for the first time.
