Basics of stage speech
20.01.2025
On January 20, the PASO School for Young Lawyers held a class on the basics of stage speech and public speaking skills. It was taught to trainee lawyers by Vladimir Pletnev, an actor at the Gran Drama Theater in the Saratov Region.
Studying rhetoric and developing public speaking skills are mandatory elements of the School for Young Lawyers curriculum.
Clear, persuasive speech and the ability to utilize the richness of one's native language when presenting before a court are essential for every defense attorney. A lawyer who lacks oral and written language skills cannot be considered a professional.
During their studies at the School, students practice rhetoric through educational activities, business games, and scientific and practical events.
A public speaking competition is planned for the near future as part of the School's curriculum.
The aforementioned master class was held in preparation for the competition.
Vladimir Pletnev, a young actor at the Novokuibyshevsk Gran Theater, graduated from GITIS and is a lecturer at the Samara State Institute of Culture.
He conducted a practical lesson for law interns, during which they learned the basic concepts and rules of stage speech and practiced their application.
The students learned firsthand that a long and complex text can be read in a way that makes it understandable and logical to the audience.
To achieve this, they must, first of all, not read from a script, but work with the audience, prepare for the presentation, and apply the relevant rules in practice.
The training session left no one indifferent.
They literally didn't want to let the speaker go.
The students gained a wealth of new knowledge and, most importantly, saw how effective and engaging public speaking and preparation can be, gaining a new perspective on their future profession.
The Samara Region Bar Association plans to repeat the master class for a wider audience of lawyers.
Stay tuned for updates.
